How old are you?
I just turned 25 on December 25th – yes, I’m a Christmas baby. And before you ask – yes, I hate it. Not to be dramatic, but having your birthday on one of the most widely celebrated holidays is kind of a bummer. My friends are always busy with family, all restaurants/bars are closed, etc. And no, I don’t get double presents! (In fairness, though, I used to when I was little… oops.)
Where are you from?
I grew up in Central New Jersey, but was born in Manhattan.
Where do you live?
I currently live in Hoboken, but will be moving to Jersey City in a few months. Other than four years in Rhode Island for school, I’ve always been a Jersey girl – in the least “Jersey Shore” way possible. I love the Hoboken/Jersey City area and much prefer it to Manhattan, mostly because it’s more affordable and not quite as fast-paced. It’s a nice break to leave the city when I come home from work.
What do you do for a living?
I’m the Brand Manager for an EdTech startup in Manhattan. I do various things on the marketing team including branding, design, social, website, etc. I’ve been working for this company since March of 2015 as an intern and began full time in June of 2015 after graduation.
How did you and your boyfriend meet?
Classic millennials – Matt and I met on Bumble. Well, technically, how’s this for modern romance – we matched on Bumble, I didn’t message him, he “extended” me, I still didn’t message him, he searched my Instagram handle (yes, it was in my Bumble bio), he followed me, I followed him back, he DM’ed me, I answered, we started texting, aaand the rest is history – but in case you’re still curious, here’s a whole blog post about it. We’ve been (officially) dating since July of 2016.
How/why did you start blogging?
Truthfully, I started blogging as an outlet for my own creativity. I discovered my love for photography in middle school and from there taught myself Photoshop and basic HTML/CSS to build websites. Since going to college and focusing more on marketing, I feel that I’ve lost touch with some of the things that I loved most, including photography and working on my own personal brand. This blog is a place where I can consolidate all of my passions and express myself the way I want to. Beyond being my own personal journal of sorts, I hope that it can provide meaningful, interesting content to anyone else who happens upon it.
What camera do you use?
I have both a Canon EOS 30D and a Canon Digital Rebel XT, with various Canon lenses I use for both of them. I also use my iPhone 8+ (for convenience sake) whenever I don’t have my cameras with me.
How do you edit your photos?
Photos that I take on my SLR cameras I edit in Photoshop. Photos that I take on my phone and upload to Instagram I edit using a variety of apps, including ColorStory to edit the curves and VSCO to filter. I typically use the J5 or A4 (or a mix of the two) filters on VSCO. You can read more about how I edit photos for Instagram here.
Are you Pinterest famous?
No! But I do weirdly have a lot of followers, and I’m not even really sure why. But I do keep a really consistent theme/aesthetic on my Pinterest and am pretty active when it comes to pinning. See for yourself!
Can we collaborate?
I’m always open for collaboration! Feel free to contact me with inquiries.
