A Classic Summer Wedding at Indian Trail Club

Franklin Lakes, New Jersey

Thanking the mercurial summer gods that the weather held out for this wonderful wedding day for Mary and Peter! Although it looked like storms were in the forecast, we got through the whole day without a drop of rain. Mary and Peter truly deserved nothing less — we kept saying all day how not only was this couple the absolute sweetest, but every single family member, friend, and guest were all SO incredibly kind. We meet all kinds of people on wedding days, but I genuinely think Mary and Peter’s friends and family may have been the nicest ever!

These two are a dating app success story, and as Mary tells it, “Peter and I matched on Hinge in December 2018. I woke up New Year’s Day to a Hinge message from him asking how I spent my NYE. We talked on the dating app for a few days and then exchanged phone numbers. We went on our first date on January 10th at Cooper’s in Chelsea. I still remember walking up to the bar and seeing Peter leaning against the wall outside waiting for me. We agreed to get drinks, but the conversation kept flowing so we ended up ordering food as well!”

“I left the date feeling good, but I wasn’t sure where things would lead. After all, Peter was the first (and only) Hinge date I had ever gone on. Peter proved to be consistent by texting me to make plans for another date in the future. He was living in the city at the time and I was in Hoboken, so we would go back and forth on where our dates were (although Peter will tell you I never came to the city and he always came to Hoboken). We continued seeing each other for months, but things weren’t “official” until he asked me out Memorial Day weekend.”

Fast forward to a dinner — that seemed like any other — on a Friday night in October 2022 at one of their favorite Hoboken restaurants.  “As we were getting ready to pay the bill and leave, Peter suggested we go for a walk on the waterfront on our way home. I was a little suspicious being that it was 10 o’clock at night and a little chilly, but of course I agreed. When we got there, I quickly took a picture of the skyline and then asked if we could go home because I was cold. I turned around to find Peter down on one knee! We celebrated just the two of us that night and then got together with friends and family the following day. Mary absolutely loves her ring. “It’s a round cut with diamonds on a platinum band. We did go to a jeweler where I tried on rings to get a sense of what I liked, but I wanted Peter to make the final decision. I knew I wanted round and left the rest up to him.” Together these two live in Hoboken and love going to dinner, drinking wine, and watching trash TV together (don’t we all?!).

Mary and Peter make their marriage official at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic church in Ramsey, New Jersey, and got the party started at Indian Trail Club for their cocktail hour and reception. Their band, Good Noise, was one of my favorite I’ve heard this year, and the dance floor was nonstop. I couldn’t be happier for these two and am so happy to have been a part of such an incredible day. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. DeCarlo!
